Northern Velvet Gecko

This stunning juvenile northern velvet gecko was spotted on the Tropical Wetlands Reserve in January. The gecko was hiding in the lose bark of a tree damaged by recent lightening. The Tropical Wetlands reserve has enormous habitat diversity and subsequently incredible species richness.

A rehabilitation dam for the waterbirds, turtles and others!

The caretakers on the Tropical Wetlands reserve have been sweating under the tropical sun as they work to prepare a small dam as a rehabilitation area for waterbirds, turtles and other aquatic species. The dam has to be cleaned out of all the old vegetation, fenced, filled and then planted.

Wildlife Sanctuary news

We are working hard to get the Forever Wild Sanctuary working. Annabelle Olsson, our wildlife vet and a Director, already has a number of animals from a range of species in care, so urgent work is underway to complete rehabilitation pens at the Tropical Wetlands Reserve. This week we were clearing vegetation around the macropod (kangaroos, wallabies and bettongs) rehabilitation pen.
